Alopecia Areata is a hair loss condition that afflicts the scalp where hair falls off rapidly more often on one side of the head. It is a condition that affects both men and women. It is totally different from the inherited male-pattern baldness. Alopecia areata treatment is available.

Alopecia Areata is caused by abnormality in the immune system where the immune system fails to defend particular tissues of the body. It is also associated with conditions such as lupus and arthritis. It can sometimes harm your self image.

Other medications which sometimes require a doctor’s prescription include minoxidil or topical tar known as anathralin each of which is used in different combinations.

There is no known sure way of preventing hair loss. Research has proved that by eliminating unnecessary chances of hair loss, it is greatly reduced.
